The General Interest Meeting on Friday was a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone that came and made it a blast! By popular demand, WCS is having a resume workshop this Thursday. Bring your resume if you already have one, or we'll help you start from scratch! Also, students will share tips on how to dress for career events, what questions to ask, how to network, how to prepare for interviews, and more. Learn how to use CareerKnight and search for internships and full-time jobs. Many of us have experience working and have gone through plenty of interviews, networking events, and resume drafts ourselves. As usual, free food and post-event video and board games! We are also starting to accept applications for the MorningStar Programming Competition! Send your resume in and reserve a slot in this contest as space is limited! It will be Oct. 1st from 6:00-9:00PM at ARC lab room 121. Free food will be provided. Check the Events page for more information. We are also starting our Mentoring Progam this week. Go to the mentoring page and if you are interested, sign up to be a mentor or mentee.

Hey everyone. I have some exciting for you - Bianca Li, our secretary, recently went to the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference in Arizona. There, she met Oreoluwa Somolu, Executive Director of W.TEC, The Women's Technology Empowerment Centre, an organization based in Nigeria that encourages Nigerian girls and women to learn how to use technology to empower themselves socially and economically. One event they hold is an annual Girls Technology Camp in the month of August. WCS has decided to partner with W.TEC to raise money for 2 volunteers to travel to Nigeria and assist in this camp. We have several events planned for the rest of this semester and for next semester to raise money, so please support our cause! Visit the events page for more on that (coming up soon: we are having a bake sale at the Busch Student Center!) Also, if you would like more info on W.TEC, the Technology Camp, or if you are interested in traveling to Nigeria for this project and being a volunteer, visit the page on W.TEC on the right.
